Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia, with one in eight women developing the illness in their lifetime.
This year, it is predicted that 15,270 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia. Few people have not been touched in some way by this illness.
When the National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1994, 30% of women diagnosed with breast cancer passed away. In less than 20 years, this figure has halved. The National Breast Cancer Foundation believes this achievement is primarily due to research – the most effective way to improve the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Although progress is being made, there is still a long way to go. A continued and concerted research effort is vital for improving the quality of life for those living with breast cancer, as well as moving towards breast cancer prevention and cure.
We are looking for 30 families to be part of an exciting new book called ~ mother ~ This book is both a salute to the mothers in your family, and to help raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
A $75 registration fee secures you a double page spread in the book. This fee will be fully donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Photographs of you and your family will then be taken by Melissa from Smile Photographics.
When all 30 families have had their photographs taken, the book will be designed and printed, and offered to families to purchase.
